Assad: Beginning of the end

The Wowster on Assad’s beginning of the end as ruler of Syria

There can be little doubt that Assad’s end of days is nigh as Syria’s ruler faces the beginning of the end.

Despite being cajoled by China and Russia to desist, he has continued his slaughter of the innocents and the defenceless in the town of Hom with another 40 killed, all in all about 500.

This is a desperate last throw to stay in power. No chance. The West will not hesitate to unleash Nato on Assad’s forces to bring about a ceasefire even if China and Russia refuse to back the UN which could actually happen now their client has taken leave of his senses.

Never before in recent times has a dictator been allowed to carry out such slaughter without repercussions. The infractions of Sadam and in particular Gadaffi comes nowhere near Assad’s at the time of their demise. The West really has no option having set down a marker.

What will emerge is yet another Arab Spring, probably Egyptian style with no role for Assad and his cronies who will be lucky to survive with their lives.

There is no doubt the Syrian Army will force Assad’s resignation once they see the game is up for yet another tinpot tyrant.

And not before time.
