The Wowster on why New York is saying a big, flouncing yes to the dress

In times of fiscal restraint, there are some purchases that are completely recession proof.

New York is proof of this with it fascination with the full on confection that is the wedding dress.

Say yes to the dress is the name of the game as brides-to-be head for  wedding dress superstore Klienfields.

In what is a multi billion business, Klienfields in 20th Street Manhatten can offer up to 1,500 dresses.

The average cost is around $6000 but prices can easily go up to double figures, one dress recently going for $30,000.

The dresses are mainly flouncy and big, big, big for that big, big big day to remember.

They just keep on coming from all over the world to Kleinfields, owner Mara Urshel trilling, “We want everyone of find exactly the dress they dream of.”

And you can bet they do.

Now eat your heart out
