Don’t Look Down

Published on February 4, 2012 by   ·   No Comments

The day The Wowster had to tell himself, don’t look down…but failed.

I suffer from a fear of heights. Have done so since I was a small child and fell off a window ledge breaking both my legs.

However, my vertigo, my deep don’t-look-down fear, was cured by a hypnotherapist who asked me to imagine I was in a cinema looking at myself standing on a vertiginous height thus removing the fear.

All very well, until I went to see a cracking concept movie, Man On A Ledge, and I had no way to turn except to grit and bear it.

Because he was standing what looked like thousands of feet up while a glamorous cop tried to talk him down.

Every move he made on a very narrow window ledge I shared, almost shitting myself. Where’s a hypnotherapist when you need one?

The movie was too good for me to avert my gaze at the height of suspense moments and dragged me into a nightmarish journey that I could not escape.

But as I left the theatre I comforted myself that I got a greater fear thrill than anyone else, double my money’s worth on what is a superb movie in terms of plot and non stop excitement. Do see it and do look down.

Like so…
