Thinking of catching “Contagion”?
Nathan Goldberg explains why Soderbergh’s latest is truly vomit-inducing.
FILMS ABOUT contagion are spreading like the plague. I have no idea why this is, but there you are.
I hope it doesn’t continue for much longer if star studded “Contagion” is anything to go by.
Directed by none other than master helmsman Steven Soderbergh and starring such luminaries as Kate Winslet, Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow it is a two hour and then some yawn-fest to be missed at all costs.
I think I’m coming down with something!
It starts well and then slumps into a laboured and predictable yarn with a soapy ending and one that is suspiciously racist.
Far better is the more modest “Perfect Sense” a beautifully crafted mediation on the power of love as humanity’s senses are whittled away one by one to the very core.
McGregor is back- minus his light saber
Directed by David MacKenzie who is joined once again by his ‘Young Adam’ lead Ewan McGregor, who is back to his best after years of sporting a rather unconvincing stick-on beard whilst running around with a light saber.
“Perfect sense”, despite having a fraction of Contagion’s $60-million budget, is undoubtedly the one not to be missed.
Nathan Goldberg, wowdewow publisher, has his own hazard warning sign and total exclusion zone.
Have you ever seen a film that make you feel psychically ill? Or maybe you want to wish Nathan well? Reader’s comments welcome.
Is it contagious? Nah, just bad acting…
