Online video marketing is so hot. And no wonder with You Tube becoming the masters of humanity as we know it, but don’t necessarily love it.
DVD revenues are nose diving. In fact, software developers are running for cover into the arms of web development. Good luck with that.
Blu-ray, do you remember it? Struggling. Meanwhile You Tube continues to spread its tentacles across the planet with 1 billion videos a day or roughly 30 billion a month.
Which begs the question? What are people doing with their lives?
Has every home got a webcam now with spotty youths grinning and squeaking or squealing into them? Oh joy.
Your reporter had his first serious encounter with the phenomenon recently. I was involved in a little promo video for wowdewow. It was not an unbridled success. Brad Pitt can sleep easy with Angie (if they’re still together).
The issue was I had this wonderful, in my opinion, futuristic video which I wanted to use. But then the fun started. Mainly trying to get it on to You Tube and back to our website without a host of sex video promos appearing at the end of it.
We just couldn’t remember how it was done. And You Tube wasn’t making it easy to find out. After all they’re busy with the entire Chinese nation and others.
So I was fiddling about and played about with me to camera wittering for all of ten seconds. I asked the team what they thought. Sort of rictus grins and much nodding.
I convinced myself they were keen and went ahead with it. Mmmmm. Well judge for yourself here. If you like it, speak to my agent.
Is online video the coming thing? Or is it being hyped-up in terms of its effectiveness? Comments as always gratefully received.
