A mother’s role

The Wowster asks when is a mother’s role easier for some than others

Gaby Insliff lives out the perfect mother’s role, fusing her freelance business with her mummy duties.

Author of Half a Wife, she lives in the English beauty spot of the Cotswalds mixing her writing with playtime with son Freddie, baking cakes, the perfect role.

She says: “The brisk professionalisation of madern parenthood risks losing sight of something deeper.

“I think parents who do work sometimes think they are not doing a good enough job.”

Point taken, Gaby, but some might say an easy one for a freelancer to follow but what about the mums who can’t freelance for one reason or another?

Do they then quit work and focus on the children and then Gaby what happens.

MIght you describe them as conservative throwbacks trying to live off the state. After all, Gaby,  you are a Daily Mail freelancers and they pay you to say such things, don’t they?

The Wowster is the pen name of Nathan Goldberg, wowdewow publisher and founder.

Do feel free to comment on whether the mother’s role is not quite as easy as Gaby thinks? Or perhaps it is?
