Running On Water

Published on January 13, 2012 by   ·   No Comments

The Wowster reports on a running-on-water salvation for those who spend a lot of their time off the grid.

Do you spend a lot of your time off the grid? Are you the outdoor type where your mobile phone is your only communication?  And therein lies the problem…

How to keep it charged? Well help is at hand. A Swedish company, it would be, have just come up with a charger that works by running on water.

It’s called the Power Trekk and is designed for people who work off the grid in remote locations. All it needs is a tablespoon of water to produce 10 hours of battery life.

The science comes from social silicide to produce hydrogen gas. The invention works with any device that has a USB port and with any water, even salt, providing it has not been sludged up.

It is due to arrive on Market shortly with a recommended price of £165.

So next time you see someone phoning with a tablespoon in their free hand, you’ll understand why…
