Cobra detector jumps on cameras

Published on October 31, 2010 by   ·   No Comments

Chris Niven reports on how Cobra aids drivers with a new camera detector but wonders about safety?

Now there’s a gadget for your phone that will help keep you safe on the roads. Creators Cobra call it “the most advanced, smart detection system in the world. ”

Cobra plus iPhone have combined their advanced industry leading laser and speed and red light camera detection technology with the power and usability of the phone. (Well who isn’t these days?)

The Cobra iRadar picks up on all the road nasties, such as red-light cameras, dangerous roads too. It detects almost all speed traps so you’ll know where to drive carefully.

Cobra aids drivers by connecting to an application on your iPhone using bluetooth, displaying radar alerts, control settings, log alert history, and warnings about the malevolent speed and red light cameras round the next corner.

There’s 360 degree detection for all speed cameras, radar and laser guns. The application is free, but for the iCobra it’s retailing online for $169.95

It could be worth it, just think of all those speeding fines you might avoid

However, will it mean users will rely on the Cobra too much? Rather than just their own driving safety and intuition?

Check out the video:

What do you think. Cobra plus iPhone is cool or dangerous?

Chris Niven, wowdewow’s geek editor, hasn’t got a driver’s licence. But when he walks, he’s like a cobra.
