IT SEEMS ironic that financial analysts are publicly punting a 1/6 chance that Britain is already back in recession.
It was, after all, casino style gambling behaviour that broke the banks and continues to chisel great chunks off UBS, whose management appears to think it has woken up in 2003 with its collective eyelids stuck together with Toblerone.
Each way accumulator
You betcha I am positively struck by this new model of offering betting odds on matters of fundamental policy proposals.
How refreshing for the government to introduce new Parliamentary Bills and give short, long and each-way accumulator odds on whether they are going to work.
Given that most of the policies don’t work at all there is an obvious downside for the professional “sporting” voter. However, with a bit of thinking and less drinking from the wankers in the tank we could make this model fly and generate the readies.
Place your bets ladies and gentlemen
How about 3/1 on the bald geezer’s benefit policies? Who wants it? What about 5/2 on the new Planning Bill and double up on Tuition Fees? Place your bets ladies and gentlemen. Roll-up! Roll up! Give it a go!
Betting may be a mug’s game but that’s what politics is. Take the bet but make sure you pay your gaming tax up front – the Treasury could really use it.
Betting on politics is one thing, but this!?!
