Monsanto in Biopiracy Wars

The Wowster looks on as India sues Monsanto for biopiracy.

Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food, said Hippocrates.

Nowadays it’s a case of let thy food be your medicine and we will pirate it.

At least, so would seem to be the case with Monsanto and as a result they are being sued for biopiracy by India.

India is one of the most biologically diverse countries in the world and is fed up to the teeth with biotechnology companies ripping off crops and patenting them.

They are accusing Monsanto of pirating eggplant without seeking permission. Needless to say the bio world is looking with great interest at the outcome, not lease the so-called, super rich bio pirates.

In the words of  one supporter of the India initiative: “No more Monsanto monster seeds.”

We shall see…
