The Wowster celebrates the Simpsons 500 not out

One of the great television landmarks is The Simpsons, a show that just keeps on giving.

Homer, family and friends and others have now notched up Simpson 50o episodes not out bringing worldwide pleasure and laughter. Not many programmes can claim that.

The beauty about the Simpsons is that it is never cruel but can be wickedly unkind.

Homer is everyman, a sap on the tree of life, incorrigible, stuffing his face, blundering through days with no sense of self.

His family brilliant compliment him, never missing a beat like the Rolling Stones of comic invention. Thankfully they will always be around, probably until the end of days.

They are like old friends who come into our living rooms for 30 minutes or so and make the world a slightly better place to be. Where you can crack a smile whatever the circumstances or simply think things can be a lot worse.

Thanks guys.

The tribute…
