The Wowster looks at alcoholic detox myth
Going on a detox regime after New Year will be pointless, according to a liver charity. It’s a detox myth.
Much better is going off alcohol for a few days every week during the year.
The British Liver Trust agrees with experts that a short period of complete abstinence will not improve liver health.
The weekly abstinence is a much better solution.
Chief Exec Andrew Langford said: “People tend to believe the hype about rejuvenating your liver after New Year with a detox.”
The idea behind the weekly abstinence is the total intake of alcohol is reduced and the liver is given time to recover each week.
That way it can repair itself very quickly, taking as litlle as 24 hours.
The drinks industry had no comment to make, apart from being seen standing on various ledges of tall buildings.
Myth of class drinking…
