The Wowster hears the clip clop of a Glasgow Rangers rescue or is it just his imagination?
Clippety clop, clippety clop, can this be a Glasgow Rangers rescue? Amid the debris of the once proud football club sounds of hope have emerged rescuing it from the knackers yard.
Quick reality check. There is no chance of Rangers folding despite all the doom mongers. A significant offer will be being constructed as I write, probably from some squillionaire from abroad.
There is also a chance of a local effort to save the football club. Paul Murray, a former director, suggests a bid to take over Rangers with the help of fans as stakeholders.
It was Murray who failed with a £25 million bid to do the deed and was defeated by the slimeball Whyte.
His suggestion is that he will underwrite a massive Blue Knights rescue package which would also involve a shares issue to the club’s supporters.
This would be a splendid resolution of Rangers woes with one worry. Murray is prepared to talk to Whyte about how much he wants for the club.
If that man was to to make a penny it would be an abomination.
Hopefully if the bid succeeds Rangers will transform itself from a sectarian flag waver to a club with the community aspirations of Barcelona. It’s a tall order but if achieved, a cause for celebration.
The Wowster is the pen name of Nathan Goldberg, wowdewow publisher and founder. He is a forlorn former supporter of Third Lanark who also went into administration after their owner used the club showers for flats he was building.
Do you think Rangers can survive?
